NYFW Inspired Nails from Alice and Olivia, Essie

It was an enchanting night for those in attendance at Alice + Olivia’s Fall 2014 fairy tale themed presentation at New York Fashion Week. The ethereal detail and sophistication of the designer’s collection was reflected on the nails.

New York based nail artist, Simcha Whitehill, also known as Miss Pop Nails, teamed up with Essie and executed this tiara French tip and bejeweled half moon beauty. The nail team used Licorice ($8.50) and Good as Gold ($8.50).

To recreate the girly yet mysterious design, I used China Glaze’s Liquid Leather ($5.99) as a base and Elf Cosmetic’s Pot of Gold ($2.00) and a dotting tool to apply the perfectly placed dots.

Disney Side Contest on Vine: Dia de los Muertos Nails

Disney Parks launched its official Vine account on October 1 and announced a month-long contest on the bite-size video sharing social media platform. The challenge: show your Disney side.

In an attempt to get Mickey Mouse approved and win a prize, I submitted an entry.

Here is my video:

Currently, the Disneyland Resort is decked out in a Halloween theme. If you’ve visited the Magic Kingdom in the last couple of years during this season, you might of come across a Dia de los Muertos exhibit near New Orleans Square.

Check out this photo I took of it at the park last year and posted on Instagram:

I’m itching to go back to the park ASAP. In the meantime, my manicure will have to fill the void. . . Can you find the hidden Mickey’s?

Three polishes, one dotting tool and a whole lot of fun make up this easy-to-do mani.

Here’s a how to execute a Disney inspired mani in under four steps.

1. Prep the nail with a base coat. Apply two coats of white polish on the ring finger (where Mickey will go). Polish the other nails with two coats of pink polish.

2. When the nails are dry, use a dotting tool to apply the polkadots Minnie loves to wear using a white polish on the pink polished nails. Make sure to space out the dots evenly.

3. Use a dotting tool with the biggest sphere and black polish to apply three dots in the shape of Mickey’s head on the tip of the nail bed.

4. Let the design completely dry and finish off with a top coat.

Check out this six-second tutorial:

Best of luck, be creative and don’t forget to have fun!
